Pros: Super easy to use, adding clients changing times, paying for the service it all runs smoothly. I like how it keeps track throught the day, showing late customers no shows and then checking them in when they arrive.
Keeping track of products on the system so you know how many you have left if your not so good at stock counting all the time. Just a really easy simple to use nice looking programe. Cons: It is a little expensive but once you have it you wont look back. I cant say i have anything that im unhappy about with this programe. Overall: Keeping stock take, showing everyones clients on 1 screen is a bonus so ithers know when they are free of busy. Keeping a record of the sales and transactions. I just wanted to update to clients looking or salon software. Salon Iris is a great expensive software for those looking for reports, payroll, booking, online booking options and mobile booking. Online booking is $30 extra. Mobile access is $9 per tech extra.
To store data in 'the cloud' it is $19 extra, get it cause I lost data twice. This is a good overall complete salon booking & POS program if you don't mind paying several hundreds of dollars to upgrade every 2-3 years. They need to upgrade their online booking software with mobile app access for clients and work out the kinks in the mobile app that they started a few years ago based on feedback from actual users. Pros: Very professional system. Marketing options.
Free email & text reminders that you can edit. Multiple up to three services to book at one time online, not many software systems offer that. Great record options for sales, inventory and payroll. Somewhat easy to use online booking. Offers resource options to avoid double booking equipment/rooms.
Offers POS options like a register. It will take a while to learn the system but they offer easy instructions and videos to learn how to use each service. The online booking option offers a nice website. They give an option to pay monthly for their software with a key you must enter monthly.
Cons: Can't delete mobile appointments. Purchasing the system does not end after the buy. After purchasing the system I have paid $500-800 to upgrade twice since my original purchase in 2008. I did not pay for the last upgrade a few years ago. Upgrades can crash an old computer so you must use an updated computer for this software. The online booking website has not been updated/upgraded for over 8 years.
Double books appointments when booking online. The company offers limited assistance until it's 'upgrading time'. Then you must pay for help and get no more upgrades. Pros: Easy to use and would be fantastic if the software team could resolve a couple of issues we've had.
We still use the software as we are aware of it's flaw and can be easily corrected. Cons: Salon Iris software occasionally creates errors in calculating totals on tickets (receipts).
The last error we found was an invoice that did not include the tax in the total for the client to pay. Instead it showed the tax as a change amount to return to the client. Salon Iris customer support can never recreate the multiple errors we have found and therefore can not send an update to fix the problem. I suggest current users to check the sales and taxes charged balance with the money collected each day to verify there have been no errors.
If you find an error. You can easily correct it be editing the ticket, delete and re-enter a service, product or tip and the software will auto correct it's error. Also would not produce a report that was request by a government auditor that asked us for a single report to show. Invoice no., date, product purchase, service purchase, tax 1 and tax 2 for a specific time period We are using version 10 and will update once issues have been addressed. Otherwise, we may look for an alternative. Overall: Works well as long as you have a system in place to monitor errors and know how to correct the errors. We currently still use the software.
Pros: Powerful functionality that runs more than 'just my appointment book' Cons: Interface looks a lot like Microsoft apps, so lots of nested menus to work through Overall: I genuinely like the pay-as-you-go model they offer. Features get added without my having to do much and my monthly costs are pretty predictable. The interface is very Windowsy (if that's a word) but there is a LOT of functionality built into Salon iris so I can understand not having the super interfaces I've seen in some other salon solutions - which were easy to use, but didn't do as much. Also, L-O-V-E the customer service people when I do have a question. Recommendations to other buyers: They get customer service, that's for sure.
I've used other products from 'bigger companies' and never had the level of service from anyone else that I get from Salon Iris. Pros: That I can sell a gift certificate or book a client to look up a previous purchases any where that I may be. Cons: I get very annoyed when my WiFi at home gets turned off because I have teenagers and I can not access my program in a perfect world the program would work even without the main computer on. Can this possibly be solved;) Overall: Convenience of doing business even when I am not home as I live in a small city and bump into client who decide on the fly to book an appointment and I can do that for them.

Cons: Cash draw opens on credit card purchase and the 'comments' on the ticket does not show on the ticket when printed. The 'comments' actually important to us and probably to other users. Overall: I am happy to say that I'm glad I selected to use IRIS software to help manage my company over your competitors. Moreover, my partners and I are happy with the support department. We had one bad experienced with a technical support member but when our rep called us back to apologize and spent 1.57 hour to help guide us to better understand the software. Our rep is very patient and took his time walk us through the process of setting up the software and took his time showing us the great things IRIS offers that we didn't know about. Our rep is exactly what Customer Satisfaction truly means.

It is currently required all of our employees to have mobile access for the owners to be able to use mobile apps. Additionally, if you could add bar code on the bottom of each ticket would be helpful to the owners. Comments: I am blow away with the customer support from Salon Iris. The politeness of support staff, the patience that they have show with me and my staff getting our new Salon Iris system up and going, all has been incredible. (yes you get a PERSONAL support person), he continually goes out of his way to call and check on us, to see how things are going, and if we need any assistance. All staff are the most polite and kind company members I have ever had the pleasure to work with. We love our software, and are finding more and more great reports and features that we never had in the past. Using our phones for Remote booking of appointments in our small town is great, and super easy feature to use. From the client ticket you are able to Drag and move appointments on the main screen, edit clients information, see a full month to month calander to the left side of the screen. From staff page you can change prices charged for each stylist, change time for each stylist for each service with a few clicks. Also able to change the width of each staff members column so you can see all your staff on one screen without having to scroll.
Staff scheduled hours is so easy to enter, and so easy to adjust. Even months in advanced.
Back office and totals are so easy, I can see with one click all the totals for the day, and even broken down by the exact service or product purchased. We are learning more new features everyday, and all sooooo easy to use, this system has surpassed all my expectations and more! YOU ROCK SALON IRIS!!!! Pros: This program does everything!!! Cons: The inventory. If you ring up something to check the price it still takes it out of inventory even if you void it off.
Overall: Salon Iris is easy to use and does everything! I always need support and it's great to have David! He has been assigned our company so I always have the same person! He knows our salon and people and the things we are working on. He is amazing! My favorite part of salon iris!

Cons: The pricing for it. Overall: I was having problems with my computer as it is old and I am planning to replace it. On several occasions I called to get my program running and even though it took a long time I was given the best service and made to feel my problem was important. Recommendations to other buyers: Maybe once I have had the chance to set down and take advantage of the training I will be able to revisit this question. Pros: Lot's of features and options.
Cons: Receipt printing and 'comments' not printing on a hard copy of receipts. No bar code scan on the printed tickets. Overall: I wasn't happy at first because I felt some tech support didn't want to spend certain times on the phone to help me setup the software. Our rep was the only tech willing to spent as much time as I needed. We need more of our rep in your company. He is a superior customer service agent.

It takes a bit of work to setup but you are assigned a tech to help get through everything from loading clients to setting up employees. The scheduling is very easy to use and the online scheduling works very well too. You can extend this to include product inventory, salary calculations and booth renters plus employees.
The system is very stable. The entire team learned how to use it very quickly too. The marketing module is easy to figure out too with nice segmentation features. Cons: The employee hours scheduling is a bit unusual to figure out. You have to book people into the time clock in the future to schedule their hours and then make adjustments if they take a day off. Minor inconvenience. Overall: Great software.
This solution has been around for a long time and you can tell they have continually improved it the end user in mind. Pros: Great report system including totals and retail, even payroll without state. Modern design and easy to schedule. Online appointment system for extra $30 month. Love the appointment reminders but hard to set up.
Documents transfer to Quickbooks but I can't seem to make it work all the time and I am techy. Payroll is great and prints out checks, but does not do pay per hour and commission together. They have credit card acceptance through their system by X charge with okay rates. They also have a great gift card system by barcode scan. Cons: Online appointment system is constantly double booking.
Software is randomly updated (can't believe it is tested first) and creates simple problems. Don't rely on a constantly smooth running system. Each additional computer system is additional $700 each or add $1,800 for unlimited. Client system repeats clients and it's very annoying because it makes their history worthless.
The Vista updating they did crashed my system once when I was on XP. The constant upgrading they do without informing you causes my front desk employees to be confused the next day on how to use it. Overall: Paid $1,200 for the professional. I have had this system for 2 years.
I am about to expand and I am going to try another software maybe millenium or virtual spa salon that I have heard good things about. I am not happy with this system. You need to purchase their epson printer, a barcode scanner and MMF register to make it work easier. Reports and Payroll is Amazing. Wish they would test the system out in a real salon before they upgrade, that is where most of the headache lies.and believe me if you own a spa or salon it is a MAJOR headache. Comments: We have used Salon Iris since 2008. We started as a small salon with no spa services, but then we expanded in 2010 to a 4000 sq ft Salon and Day Spa that specializes in Hair and Lash Extensions.
Salon Iris has grown with us as we have expanded. With any software there can be issues, but they work with us to improve and to fix any issues.
They take what we recommend and incorporate into updates. Training new staff can be an issue in any business, but it has been easy to train new staff members to use the software. If you are looking for a software program that can be easy to use but also has all the bells and whistles of online and marketing built in this is the software program for you. It incorporates not only booking appointments but you can use all the other great features to track gift cards and gift certificates, take deposits, track tanning or other prepaid services, do purchase orders for products and many other wonderful and useful features. Comments: I started about 7 months ago to use Salon Iris. It's been a great software for my facial spa business. I have the ability to set up my salon from home PC, set appointments, send reminders etc all with ease. Then at the spa I just pull up Salon Iris on my Ipad and it's just like I'm at my PC. Any change on one device is mirrored on them all. Online booking is simple and a breeze to get clients used to using.
It's nice and I love the new look on the mobile version- I opened my Ipad to a surprise this morning and it was better and lovelier than ever. The only suggestion would be to me the mobile devised to change the colors. I am not a fan of shocking pink. We used to be able to but with the update it has reverted back to pink.
Great fan I am! Suggest Salon Iris for anyone running a salon-type business. Pros: We like the ease of using it, and the text messaging system and alerts. The app is also very helpful!
Cons: It does not connect the resources in the salon to the stylists. It only connects the services to the resource. Do not like how the resources show up on the appointment book screen.

THEN he set up a folder on my desktop so if the issue occurs again, or I need to explain how to fix this issue to an employee, I have step by step instructions. Talk about going above and beyond!
I had a few miscellaneous questions about some reports and the loyalty point option and he was very informative. I hope the next time I call in, I get David A. He was personable, funny and easy to work with. Comments: What I don't like about this software is that when I need to make credit card adjustments, I need to do it in salon iris and then go into the excharge and adjust it as well.
It doesn't sync enough with the credit card processing. When I used QuickBooks Point of sale, I never had that issue. Any adjustments or credits went right into the credit card processer that was integrated into the software. If I had known that, I would probably have chosen a different software, because it is not convenient to use in this way.
Otherwise, I like all the detailed reports that can tell me how my business is doing.
